We never wanted to be thieves. We tried to become adventurers, but we could never pass the minimum bar for power and no one wanted to take on a liability.\u00a0 At first, we only stole food and barely survived.\u00a0 The thieves group we are now a part of took note of us and helped us pick out marks that paid more.\u00a0 In exchange for doing jobs for Perfidia, we were introduced to Tenara who has been helping us train with the hopes of becoming strong enough to enter the adventurer\u2019s guild and leaving the life of crime behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cHave you been keeping up with your foundations?\u201d This was Tenara.\u00a0 He was the one who gave us hope for the future by teaching us how to become strong enough to stand on our own.\u00a0 The foundations that he spoke of were mostly calisthenics agility training. \u201cWhy do you keep up with this exercise?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHaving a strong body is the beginning of magic. The act of burning physical energy from food to movement produces raw mana to absorb.\u201d These lessons had been drilled into us for the last four years by Tenara. Magic is built like a pyramid, with the higher levels being unreachable until the lower levels were filled. These principals were absolute even if exact methods were different. Our method was to train our bodies to create raw mana. We then circulate the mana through our blood streams and cultivate it into active mana that could be used for spells. Then we concentrate the active mana around our hearts to turn it into personal mana and create a mana heart<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGood, when you are done with your physical routine, begin your meditation. Focus on circulating your personal mana from your mana heart to your brain. This natural process is what separates humans and magic beasts from normal animals. This will create an immortal soul within your brain. It allows you to change your personal mana into physical phenomenon known as spells.\u201d So far, this is all that has been taught. This natural process gives value to all human life, but only those who can accelerate the process like this can achieve freedom. Without strength in this world people are destined only to be used by the strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We spent the next month training like this. We only used our money to buy the essentials so that we have more time not taking thief jobs so we could get strong enough to become adventurers. As our money started to run low, we inevitably had to take another job and returned to Perfidia. \u201cWe need to take another job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGood, we are about to send a group out to destroy a merchant caravan. It is about time you two started to pull weight around here.\u201d (Perfidia)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, we are just looking for another snatch and run job. We don\u2019t want to stay thieves our whole lives. We only need a few more months before we can join the adventurer\u2019s guild and leave this life behind.\u201d
