{"id":10,"date":"2025-08-22T20:41:32","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T20:41:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1\/wordpress\/?p=10"},"modified":"2026-01-03T04:22:35","modified_gmt":"2026-01-03T04:22:35","slug":"second","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bellatormitas.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/22\/second\/","title":{"rendered":"Second"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"is-style-default wp-block-paragraph\">       My name is Jasum and today is the day of my baptism.\u00a0 \u00a0 I woke up early and put on my best clothes.\u00a0 Along with my 3 friends we stepped outside the orphanage and headed to the church in the second ring.\u00a0 The frontier city of Rhayne was built with four walls shaped like concentric circles. The outer circle was the primary defense and covered the agricultural land.\u00a0 Inside the second wall where we lived was generally reserved for 3<sup>rd<\/sup> tier citizens.\u00a0 All children who are abandoned by their parents are allowed to live in the orphanage that is located here.\u00a0 Inside the 3rd wall live the land-owning citizens and the central area is reserved for those with noble titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sister Sarah led us to the church.&nbsp; It was built into the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> wall and functioned also as a gate for the higher members of the church.&nbsp; Here we were joined by hundreds of other children and were lined up to receive appraisal. I waited in line and watched as children went into the holy study.&nbsp; Some came out excited and others looked dejected.&nbsp; I was next and the priest opened the door and as the previous child left the priest turned to me and said \u201cCome with me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I walked into the room, there was a large crystal orb in the middle and books lined the walls.&nbsp; \u201cCome place your hand on the orb here and we will get your stats and ID made.\u201d&nbsp; I followed his instructions, once I pressed my hand on the orb there was a small glow and a card popped out into the priest hands.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe stats appear on the low side with 1\u2019s and 2\u2019s\u201d.&nbsp; My heart dropped as stats this low was practically a death sentence.&nbsp; It would be unlikely that I could raise them enough to get work anywhere and would be a charity case until I died. \u201cIt seems as though you also have a unique skill called Create Summon.&nbsp; Please pass through to the back room so we can look into the specifics of the skill.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was led further back into the church and new priest took my ID.&nbsp; \u201cIt looks like this skill will allow you to place an enchantment that can summon a physical spirit.&nbsp; Since summoning is a highly sought after ability, you may be recruited by the Noble Class depending on the Summon\u2019s strength.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFirst we will teach you the basic spell of Status.&nbsp; Even someone with a low mana stat as you can use it.&nbsp; Just say status open and you should see a menu with more details.\u201d&nbsp; I did as I was told and sure enough a menu opened in mid air in front of me that listed my stats and skills.&nbsp; I reviewed the skill description and upon confirming that I could cast the enchantment, the priest asked me to show the use of the skill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHere is a blank crystal.&nbsp; It has high mana receptivity so you should be able to cast an enchantment on it easily.\u201d&nbsp; I was handed a crystal and focused on the skill.&nbsp; I felt energy rapidly drain from my body and began to feel tired.&nbsp; The priest confirmed the enchantment on the crystal and activated it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was a small glow and the enchantment had summoned \u2026 a small insect that resembled a flea.&nbsp; The priest waved his hand at the flea and upon contact it shattered and needed time before it could be summoned again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWell, it appears that the noble\u2019s will likely not be interested in this skill.&nbsp; You may return home with the rest of the children now.&nbsp; Remember to work hard and grow strong, for all life is precious in the eyes of the church.\u201d&nbsp; With that I was ushered to the front of the church and was left to walk home.&nbsp;
